Crown specializes in manufacturing electric forklifts that are utilized in production settings and distributions centers around the globe. Crown is a leading forklift maker of IC lift trucks for both open-air and indoor uses. Although a privately owned corporation, Crown has wide-ranging production capabilities internationally with facilities located in China, the United States, Mexico, Germany and Australia.

Crown's electric forklifts are used routinely to securely move warehouse goods and resources. The company's broad product line includes power pallet trucks and stackers, narrow-aisle turret trucks, counterbalanced lift trucks (sit-down and stand up models), manual propelled pallet lift trucks and stackers, order picking equipment and narrow-aisle reach trucks.

Environmental accountability and sustainability persists at the forefront of Crown's organizational culture. Crown has attained ISO 14001 certification and has been benefiting its customers for many decades with their thought leadership and by exerting an extra effort in business administration and environmental stewardship. Crown has proudly achieved numerous awards and recognitions for its preservation efforts, including the Ohio Governor's Pollution Prevention Award and the Ohio Governor's Environmental Sustainability Award.

History - 1930 to 1950

Crown Equipment Corporation was first born is rural central American municipality called New Bremen, Ohio, USA. The company has developed from a one-room operation into a globally prominent corporation, currently considered to be the seventh biggest lift truck maker on the planet.

Two brothers Allen A. Dicke and the late Carl H. Dicke established the Crown corporation in 1945. Carl's son, James F. Dicke joined the family company later on that year. At present, his son, James F. Dicke II, is Chairman and CEO. James F. Dicke III, serves as the company President at the moment, becoming the fourth generation of the Dicke family to uphold this position.

Crown in the beginning started with a small client base developing temperature controls that they manufactured for coal burning furnaces. The assembly of these control units took place in a former hardware store located in New Bremen, Ohio, where Crown's head office currently remain.

By the year 1949, Crown moved into the making of rotators for antenna due the greater interest in televisions at the time. The product was proficient at improving the image and reception quality. The company's profitable move enabled them to become a leading producer of units until 2001. The company ceased production in October after a decline in the worldwide demand for TV antenna rotators.

History - 1950 to 1975

Crown soon diversified its manufacturing to take in the restoration of mechanical and electrical components for private and government use in the early 1950's. Following a number of lucrative bids inside a short period of time, the company had built a reputable business in this field.

Flexibility and achievement dominated Crown's capability to diversify once again. In 1957, production into the materials handling industry started with lift truck production. The organization believed the market required a smaller line of superior quality lift trucks. Crown immediately fashioned an exceptional series of modern equipment and swiftly became the most rapidly evolving materials handling company with its assortment of products.

By 1966, Crown had ventured into the overseas material handling marketplaces by opening up shop in Sydney, Australia. Sydney is currently a regional headquarters for Crown for all Pacific Asian sales, advertising and marketing, and services. Crown remains an unwavering industry leader these days, supported by exceptional service, solid sales and strong manufacturing operations.

In 1968, Crown established itself in the European marketplace by purchasing an Irish production plant from its parent company, Steinbock, who was a German firm. They started to manufacture Crowns' (PTH), hand pallet trucks. Later that same year, Crown began their first London operation stationed close by Heathrow Airport. The sales and service operation of Crown's complete lift truck line was available in the UK by the end of the decade. In the early 1970's, Crown expanded and began advertising and marketing forklifts across Europe through autonomous dealers.

Crown History - 1975 to Current Day

Crown at the moment has a considerable network of Crown-owned and independently-owned sellers in many key international markets providing a vast fleet of electric lift trucks. They are responsible for managing the company's product sales and service.

There is Corporate offices in Munich, Germany and in New Bremen Ohio, which provide promotional sales and nationwide advertising support to all of their dealers and sales personnel. Crown sellers and sales personnel are trained in-house in numerous disciplines to ensure the utmost reliability and service. The Munich office was launched in the 1980's and provides purchasing, marketing, engineering and design capabilities for India, Africa, the Middle East along with Europe. The diverse family of international dealers and Crown-owned dealers effectively operate in nearly 100 overseas city environments.

Crown has established 6 manufacturing locations in the United States that consist of: New Knoxville; Celina, Ohio; Greencastle, Indiana; Kinston, North Carolina; Fort Loramie, Ohio; and New Bremen, Ohio. Serving their expanding overseas markets, Crown has production facilities in Sydney, Australia (since 1966); Queretaro, Mexico (since 1973); Roding, Germany (since 1986); and Suzhou, China (since 2006). Crown also owns branch sales and service center operations in more than 30 locations in the USA. International branch sales and service center operations consist of locations in Singapore, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Korea, Malaysia, England, Germany, Belgium and Australia.

Crown has earned a successful reputation as a reliable, safe and forward-thinking company by happy clients worldwide. The company has earned over 50 prominent design awards and the Crown products continue to attain recognition for top design brilliance and modernization. Just to illustrate, in the 1970's, Crown's introduction of the side-stance design proved exciting and unparalleled by materials handling experts. Today, this design has acquired general acceptance and earned a Design of the Decade award from the International Design Society of America. Again, more than thirty years later, the 5200S Series Reach Truck is another industry original, offering the operator with many comfort choices to lean, sit or stand, along with its unequaled output capacity.
